Summary/Abstract: The discovery of a red wax seal impression in the collections of the National Museum of History of Romania aroused the author's curiosity about the owner of the seal. A little-known and controversial figure that attracted the attention of the European chancelleries of the time, Panaiotaki Kodrika served for eight years as personal secretary to Prince Michael Soutzou and for four years to Prince Nicolae Mavrogheny. Greek, originally from Athens, Kodrika came very young in Wallachia, following Prince Mihail Şuţu in 1783. He had received a good education and in Walachia he frequented intellectual circles trained in the spirit of The neo-Greek culture which fought for the freedom of their country, following the French revolutionary ideal. As Secretary of the Reigning Prince, he was obliged to keep his correspondence with various foreign "agents" who informed him about European political events which might have some influence on the situation of the country. It was the moment of great movements in the geopolitics of Europe, the moment when the hierarchies of powers that dominated the continent changed
