Summary/Abstract: This article presents a multiple view on a purchase of new vehicles and how it affects the quality of any transport network given. A few issues have been addressed, including change of the passenger carrying capacity, which then further determines availability of transport itself, as well as quality traits essential from the passengers’ point of view – these being largely connected with the fleet investments. Other features have also been taken into consideration, such as: punctuality, reliability, quality of vehicles, their appearance and facilities provided aboard. The first part of the article, focusing mostly on the change in passenger carrying capacity and on the standard of the provided equipment, analyses tram, bus, underground and train systems. The part sacrificed to punctuality, reliability and to selected fleet transgressions addresses only bus and tram networks.
