Summary/Abstract: Revenues of local governments are the subject that draws attention not just of science but also of economic practice. Securing funds in the communal budgeting is paramount for the proper discharge of the statutory functions of local governments. Still, own income potential is marked by great inequality among all communes and even greater among the rural ones. Excessive inequality of own revenues can be detrimental to local development and cohesion, and their monitoring may be a useful tool for the fine-tuning of the national redistributive policy. The article aimed to analyze changes in income inequality among rural communes of the Wielkopolska province across their functional types. Own revenues and total revenues percapita in 2005-2014 were examined using basic concentration measures along with Gini and Theil indices.
