Summary/Abstract: This analysis describes the language phenomenon called Kanakisch or Kiezdeutsch.Particular attention is paid to the specific character and homogeneity of its morphosyntactic, phonetic and lexical structures. The said homogeneity (fact that Kanakisch isrooted in the system of German standard language) differentiates this language varietyfrom the ordinary style of youth, characterised by its instability and transitoriness. Thedata come from a collection of fairytales in Kanakisch by Michael Freidank.
