Summary/Abstract: The end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century is characterized by numerous interventions that are justified in various ways, and at the same time the same of similar events are clarified as crimes or righteous war, depending on which side committed them. This paper is divided in three parts. In the first part the author analyzes the problem of double standards during humanitarian interventions, preventive wars, and the fight for democracy and the human rights. The second part deals with the Serbian geopolitical challenges, and the last part analyzes international law, which has become only formality, and which is used or ignored depending on the actors which are involved.
