Summary/Abstract: This article contains a description of research on linguistic picture of „mining” and „steelworks” inphraseology of Cieszyn area. The research material was Józef Ondrusz’s publication Przys³owia i przymówiskaludowe ze OEl¹ska Cieszyñskiego. The traditions of mining and steelworks in Cieszyn Silesia havea rich tradition, which also marked the proverbs in the region. A considerable part of proverbs related to theminer, his temperament, appearance, second craft - the steel industry, where most of the sayings referred tothe iron and its strength. It is emphasized miner’s and stelworker’s hard work who deserve respect.
