Who is Called “a Dog” on Polish-Language Websites?

Summary/Abstract: This article presents a reflection on what it means to be “a dog” on Polish-language websites. The article contains a brief dictionary description of the dog, its image in the dictionaries of Linde and of Doroszewski and presents the found metaphors consisting of the verb “to be” and the component “dog” or a component falling within the scope of the latter (female dog, puppy, mongrel). Most often, these designations appeared on web as the 2nd person singular, especially with examples with “dog”, “puppy” and “mongrel”, examples with “female dog” appeared also often as the 1st person singular. To be “a dog” on Polish-language websites means a person, who is false, naive, stupid, blindly executing commands, lame, weak, worthless, without identity, underestimated, one, who is not treated seriously and without experience, a woman, who frequently changes partners, plays with them, uses them, one without feelings and spiteful.
