Summary/Abstract: Grand Duchy of Poznan was set up under the provisions of the Congress of Vienna in 1815. It included the western areas of the liquidated Duchy of Warsaw. The political status of the Grand Duchy of Poznan did not differ from the status of other provinces, it was an integral part of Prussia, and subject to the power of the King. The Prussian government introduced only some indications of national identity in the form of institution of the governor, practically not having any rights.
