Summary/Abstract: Although it has been exposed for a long time to a united aggressive missionaryaction, The Orthodox Church from the former border of Nasaud area managed to retainits identity, thanks to priests’ worthiness and piety of the faithful people from BârgăuValley and villages from the area “After Fair”.With the onset of Archimandrite Andrei Şaguna in Sibiu, in the summer of 1846,The Orthodox Diocese of Transylvania was experiencing a profound existential crisis.Through his measures and actions, grace and hard work, he will eventually succeed, torecover and stabilize the institutional foundations of the Transylvanian church body.There is a rich correspondence of Metropolitan Andrei Şaguna with Deans TerentieBogat (1830–1857) and Teodor Buzdug (1857–1875) of Bârgău Deanery, published inthe volume “Andrei Şaguna – Correspondence – IV”, cared for by professors NicolaeBocşan, Gabriel‑Viorel Gârdan and Ioan‑Vasile Leb, where, besides issues regardingpastoral activity of the Hierarch, we can also identify the way he, together with deansof the area, were trying to get involved in solving social and economic problems ofOrthodox communities
