Finance Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party in Opole in the Years 1950–1990

Summary/Abstract: The article by Marcin Sroka Finance Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party in Opole in the Years 1950–1990, presents activities of the PUWP. In the discussed period the institution decided not only about political life, but also controlled economy, personnel policy, influenced the educational system and work of social organizations, and also had an impact on upbringing and moulding of young generation attitudes. The subject of my research in thesis are issues related to the activities of the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party in Opole. In archival research analyzed the many aspects of activity the PUWP in the voivodship Opole. One of the most important and interesting issue is the finance of the Communist Party. In this paper I would like to present changes that occurred in the acquisition and disbursement of funds, their structure, size and importance to the local power elites. Worth analysis are also sources of funding in this issue of the profitability of premiums party. The work contains information about interesting aspects of the PUWP as among others the scope and financing of international cooperation the Provincial Committee of PUWP. Article has been developed on the basis of archival material stored in the National Archive in Opole: the Provincial Committee of PUWP in Opole (No. 1-673), the Bureau of the Provincial Council in Opole and the City Committee of the PUWP in Opole. In addition, the base was used archival the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw – The Central Committee of the Communist Party.
