Summary/Abstract: The exhortation of the Pope Francis, entitled Amoris laetitia, or The joy of love, touches many urgent topics of the contemporary families. One of them, and surely very important, is the teaching of the Church on morality of the maritial act. This article presents the permanency of Church’s teaching on morality of the marriage act from the encyclical Casti connubii of Pius XI, through Humanae vitae and Familiaris consortio to Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. The constancy of Church’s moral teaching is expressed in that that each and every maritial act must retain its intrinsiv relationship to the procreation of human life. This doctrine is based on the inseparable connection, estabilished by God. Man may not break on his own initiative, this inseparable connection in maritial act between the unitive and the procreative significance, because both are inherent to the marriage act and both express the sense of true mutual love and its ordination to the supreme responsibility of parenthood. Although the Pope Francis does not remind very often this moral teaching of the Church in his exhortation, he often refers to the encyclical Humanae vitae of Paul VI and recommends the exploration of its message on the newly and the proclamation it to contemporary spouses.
