Summary/Abstract: Critical success factors are the basis for the development of the performancemeasurement system in enterprises. The aim of the article is to present the results of criticalsuccess factors identification in food production sector at present and in the future. The usedmethods were: critical analysis of the literature, analysis of the documentation of selectedcompanies, individual interviews, Delphi method, and Ward method. In the result a generalisedset of current and future critical success factors has been generated with the evaluation of theirimportance for food production sector. This set contains factors not only from preferred currentlyfinancial perspective, but also from client, internal processes and very important in knowledgebasedeconomy learning and development perspectives. It may provide the basis for criticalsuccess factors identification in every company and for performance measurement systemdevelopment, supporting effective and efficient achievement of stakeholders objectives.Critical success factors are the basis for the development of the performance measurement system in enterprises.
