Practical aspects of implementing social innovation. Recommendations for decision makers

Summary/Abstract: Social innovation must have favorable conditions for development. For this reason, in the first part of the article the authors explain an approach to social innovations. Review of the literature in this field shows that there are two schools of thought: one is based on functional perspective, in which social innovations are seen as creative solutions to social problems, in the second school of thought, social innovations are activities that are aimed at transforming social relations that lie at the root of social problems. The second part of the article discusses the main barriers to the development of social innovation in Poland based on practical experience. The analysis of the issues allows to formulate some general conclusions and recommendations for decision-makers.
