Summary/Abstract: In general Lithuanian language prepositions are used only with three cases: genitive, accusative, and instrumental. Other cases of prepositions usage can be found in dialects. In Eastern Aukštaitian dialect prepositions ligi (iki), po, prie and sulig are used with singular dative. In the 19th century texts written in Eastern-Aukštaitian dialect (religious texts written by the representatives of that century, i.e. Andrius Benediktas Klungys, Mykolas Cerauskas, Kazimieras Michnevičius-Mikėnas, Antanas Kitkevičius, Henrikas Balevičius, Laurynas Bortkevičius, Tadas Lichodzejauskas ir Mykolas Smolskis are reviewed) with dative case four prepositions, i.e. iki, ligi, po, prie are used consistently. Usually these combinations express time or place, and rarely – way of action, purpose, or enumeration. Some cases of usage prieš, pas, ing with dative case occur.
