Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to explore shortened locative (innesyvus and illatyvus) accents of vowel flexions in Eastern Lithuanian (Utena) dialect with experimental methods. Therefore material from two points of Eastern Lithuanian dialect (Molėtai and Saldutiškis) was recorded. The length of taped sounds, intensity, the main tone and quality were analysed. The results of experimental research shoved that in various features vowels of flexions of innesyvus were longer, more intensive, range of variation of their main tone was wider and their qualitative features were more distinct. To sum up, we can come to the conclusion that vowels of flexions of innesyvus can be compared to circumflex accent while vowels of flexions of illatyvus - to acute accent.
