Summary/Abstract: The methodological debate in management field revolves around positivist versus interpretivist paradigms, bringing it down to arguing for or against each one. However, a number of concerns are discussed within those paradigms. This paper focuses on six issues which attract concern in academia: 1) data gathering from available rather than dedicated databases; 2) increasing sophistication of data analysis techniques; 3) insisting on statistical power through sample size; 4) preference of formal rigor over relevance; 5) overlooking the toomuch- of-a-good-thing effect and 6) formulating hypotheses after results are known. Those concerns open ways to develop the practice of quantitative research in management, as well as foster theory building.
