Summary/Abstract: This article aims to (re)bring to mind a monument, a part of Shkodra’s history, part of the big bazaar known as “Bezistan". It was constructed in 1807, a project-model after Istanbul big bazaar. The communist regime and that time ideology in Albania tried to interfere to the physical environment, which changed a lot during this period, not only in the city of Shkodra (the case study) but all over Albania. Ncw cities, statues and monuments were erected on the existing and the narne of the streets changed as wel!. Thercfore, the historic symbols of previous periods as statues, buildings, churches and monuments were destroyed trying to “wipe away" the past. l'he same destine suffered the “Bezisteni of Shkodra”, turning into a park for the inhabitants of this place. People remembers it as the Park of the Bazaar. They still feel nostalgia about the time when Bezistan was part of Shkodra. Even though Bezistan was destroyed in 1945 the memory remained alive. Even today, in the place where a park or a mall is constructed, people still say “to bezistani”.
