The role of EU funds and programs in mulifunctional rural areas development

Summary/Abstract: A challenge to be faced in the immediate future is to guarantee food of high parameters of quality and healthiness for every human. Therefore, agriculture plays a significant role in creating quality of food and environment, while its basic task is to ensure self-sufficiency and nutritional safety at the national level. Sustainable and multifunctional development of rural areas is not possible without direct and wide participation of village inhabitants. This paper presents examples of such indicators and they divides them into three kinds of orderliness: economic, social and environmental. The study shows that the regions with higher economic potential of agriculture and more favorable agrarian structure, utilize assistance of the EU to higher degree than regions with weak economic potential and a smallfarm structure of agriculture.
