Macroeconomic environment and capital expenditures of silesian enterprises.

Results of empirical survey

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to identify changes in capital expenditures of enterprises during fluctuations of the economic activity. In order to fulfi l objectives of the study, and in the period of 2008-2010, a primary data collection took place. A research sample consisted of 231 Silesian enterprises. Based on collected data the study shows results that relate to (i)changes in the growth and maintenance of capital expenditures, and (ii) modifi cations in capital expenditure plans. Moreover, conclusions of the study distinguish links between capital expenditures and the firm size, its market range and the type of sector in which an enterprise operates.
