Emotions and Communication in the Workplace

Summary/Abstract: The impact of emotions on organizational life, on the employees’ behaviour and achievements has been explored in significant studies, published mainly in the past two decades. One aspect which seems less examined and more difficult to quantify is the relationship between emotions and commnunication in the workplace. The paper starts from presenting two different perspectives on the connections between language and emotions and continues by analyzing various approaches to emotions in an organizational environment, including the relevance of emotional intelligence for organizational members.
