Summary/Abstract: Researchers in the area of business have tried to identify and express the effect discourse has on shaping relationships and processes in business contexts. The aim of this paper is to examine some of the relevant contributions in this field and to suggest a closer look at potential consequences derived from institutionalizing processes. The insights from institutional theory are combined with a discourse analytic perspective to illustrate a process of institutionalization. The text provides an overview of the key concepts of discourse, business communication, and institutionalization as well as of relevant contributions mapping the relationships among action, texts, discourse, and the process of institutionalization.
