Summary/Abstract: In the current European context, intercultural competence becomes a priority in the field of language teaching. This article attempts to analyze and summarize the importance and effectiveness of this competence. In the language class, the culture of the learner is confronted with an unfamiliar culture, the so-called "dialogue of cultures". In this dialogue, the learner's own culture is enriched by contact with the culture of others and leads to intercultural competence.
