Summary/Abstract: The use of essential oils for disinfection and pest control of old book collections can be a non-residual, ecological and economical alternative to chemical treatments, being safe both for the objects and for the staff. The repellant and biocidal activity of some volatile oils has been proven effective against a variety of microorganisms and insects.
