Summary/Abstract: The analysis of materials used in painting miniatures is a very important step necessary to establish the most effective methods of conservation and restoration of the respective documents. XRF Spectrometry permits the identification of the majority of materials used in writing and decoration of manuscripts. Our purpose is the analysis of composition of red ink in some illuminating manuscripts.
