Summary/Abstract: The interdependence between air transport and theeconomic sector can be examined from twodirections. Several theoretical and regional studieswere published on the economic impact of aviation, which is the fastest growing but the mostenvironmentally harmful among all of the transportsubsections. However, out of the many factors thatinfluence the development level / performance ofaviation, only the thematization and examination ofthe relationship with the GDP per capita was carriedout for a narrower group of countries.Compared to the past, the authormethodologically exceeded previous studies in manyrespects, since the correlation calculations werecarried out on168 countries on 8 hypothetical actingfactors and other specific indicators instead of onefactor. Furthermore (breaking with the earlierpractice), the indicator of passenger traffic perinhabitant was produced not from the data ofofficial statistics (such as ICAO and IATA), whichis only related to airlines registered in the givencountry, but from the complete national airporttraffic data that was painstakingly generated by theauthor. In addition to the global scale, the evaluation ofcorrelation coefficients from a geographical point ofview was done according to quantitative categoriesof hypothetical acting factors and at the same timefor every country in the dataset. To illustrate the vastdifferences among the aviation (infrastructure /traffic) specific indicators, linear scale charts andgraphs were made, while the correlation ofindicators aggregated by continents was visualizedwith a logarithmic scaling.
