The essence of regional development and its determinants

Summary/Abstract: The notion of regional development has got no unambiguous, commonly understood and accepted interpretation of its meaning. The flexibility of this expression lies in different views on development and region, as well as the essence of the configuration of these words. This article relates to those issues which are further expanded with efforts to find the determinants of regional development. The article eventually suggests definitions of regional development and its determinants and attempts to put them together in the light of current social and economic realities.
