Summary/Abstract: The object of the study encompasses the temporal and aspectual characteristics of the Perfect in Greek and Bulgarian. On the basis of a body of translated materials and analysis of errors committed by students learning Modern Greek, the uses of the Perfect have been outlined in the two Balkan Languages, as well as its possibilities for substitution with other verb tenses - Aorist or Past Progressive Tense depending on the verbal aspect.
