Summary/Abstract: The paper presents five ritual bowls from a private collection. The ornamentation has been studies including Arabic graphic inscriptions, magic quadrants and floral elements. Two of the bowls are characterized as examples of Safavid Iranian art, created and used in Shi’a circles. The names of the Holy Family and the twelve imams can be seen upon them. The texts contain part of the “The Beautiful Names of Allah”, particular ayahs and whole suras from the Koran (1, 109, 112 and 114). One of the ritual bowls has a date which could be deciphered as 1173/1760 or 1273/1857. The others are provisionally dated in the period between 14th and 17th centuries.
