Summary/Abstract: The idea of sustainable development is based generally on the premise that we can satisfy basic needs of modern society, as well as ensuring the satisfaction of future generations. Entering this concept requires the integration of political, economic and social actions. Many activities in this field are carried out at the level of local government. Therefore, this study attempts to present the role of territorial marketing in the implementation of the idea. As an example there are presented selected spa towns in Poland. This choice follows from the area of the author scientific interests, as well as specificity of spas that are dedicated inter alia to the exploitation and protection of located in their area natural medicinal materials, and therefore are subject to more stringent regulations than the rest of the community.
