Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the great importance of the demographic spacing of Bulgaria in the modern complicated economic and demographic situation. It is accpted as temporary situation in the development, the structure and the distribution of the population in regional terms and is based on the space similarities in the demographic situation. In fact, this is an integral subject regionalization, and, as a continuity requirement regarding the rural areas. For the purposes of the analysis of the demographic regions 8 components of the demographic situation — crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural grwth rate, population below and over active age, the fertile contingent among women and the population are used size dynamics. The aggregation of the accepted components is made on the basis of a 6-grade scale. The 40 types obtained using this method are aggregated in 4 groups, indicated as favourable, transitional, moderately deteriorised and strongly, deteriorised demographic situation. Accordingly, 7 demographic regions are classified by the type of the spaced demographic situation. The regions differ considerably by territory and population size and structural particularit ies. In their boundaries, besides the spacial simmilarities, the genesis and the trend of the demographic processes, the specificity of natural, socio-economic and settlements conditions are regarded, including the former microterritorial administrative borders. That is why, although the elimination of casual and non typical for the different regions features, certain interregional deviations can be observed in some of them. Setting them on a meso- and mic-ro-tacsonomic level is a normal procedure and does not contradict the accepted regional scheme. The demographic spacing of Bulgaria, beside its recognised scientific meaning, has its practical opportunity, particularly in demographic projections and the improvement of their reliability and rational distribution and regulation of the human resources.
