Consolidation vs. efficiency in health care

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to increase knowledge about the effects of consolidation in a very important segment of the public sector which is health care. The author concludes that there is quite a serious gap between available research results and widely recognized paradigms in this scope. In the light of the article analysis, there is no conclusive evidence for the fact that increasing the capacity of units benefits both economically and socialy in the form of an increase in the quality of services and their efficiency.
