Financing innovation activities – sources and barriers with regard to regions in Poland (NTS-2)

Summary/Abstract: Based on the guidelines of the Oslo Manual, forms issued by the Main Statistical Office concerning innovation in industry and services (PNT-02, PNTu-02) define a set of gathered information on sources and barriers of financing innovation activities with regard to regions (voivodeships) in Poland. The collected data, although incomplete and without an arrangement of financial barriers in innovation processes, lead to two basic conclusions. Firstly, the main source of financing for innovation in 2006-2009 were the innovators’ own means, complemented with bank credits. Secondly, the domination of these items could have been challenged by innovation barriers in 2004-2006, such as no internal means or access to external sources of financial supply.
