Belles - Letters Text in the Context of Intercultural Teaching

Summary/Abstract: The idea of teaching in the dialogue of cultures that takes leading position in modern linguodidactics radically changes the essence and aims of foreign language teaching. The foreign language background must not only be introduced into multicultural dialogue but it also should be capable to achieve mutual understanding in different cultural backgrounds. That's why the process of teaching a foreign language contemplates the mastering of a certain amount of cultural knowledge and the joining in 'foreign ' culture, customs and traditions as well as the formation of abilities of multicultural communication. The formation of cultural knowledge is preceded on the basis of real texts, namely, belles-letters ones that properly reflect lingual and national picture of the world. In relation to this, the specific character of the comprehension of abelles-lettres textby foreigners is discussed. Some examples of peculiarities of comprehension of some texts by Chinese students and some representatives of westerri culture are presented there. Some precedent phenomenons within the frame of belles-lettres texts are looked upon and the problems of their adequate perception are analysed. The belles-lettres text is looked upon as the key unit of multicultural communication.
