Summary/Abstract: Microenterprises account for over 95% of the total population of businesses in Poland, employing over 1/3 of all workers, but their economic characteristics (revenues, capital expenditures and added value) indicate their significant competitive disadvantages, mainly related to the limited access to capital and know-how. Due to the positive impact of the microenterprises on economic development and employment, support for the sector is one of the priorities of the EU. The aim of this paper is the analysis of the development of microenterprises in Poland in the years 2007-2011 and quantitative summary of the effects of EU support.
