Summary/Abstract: W. Wenzel aimed to describe the system of Wend personal names acquired from sources from the end of the 14th century to the beginning of the 18th century from the territory between the river Elbe and the upper part of the river Spree. The author analyses this rich and extraordinary source material in accordance with the standards of modern antroponomastics. After setting general and theoretical basis he pays attention mostly to word-formative structure of Wend personal names as their own organizational forms of the antroponomastic system. He deals with their specific onymic semantics very briefly. These second part of the Wenzel's studies consists of a two-volume historical-etymological dictionary. A retrograded dictionary of restored personal names and a list of antroponomastic suffixes with their frequencies are placed at the end of this part. The third part consists of an atlas of 118 maps and elaborated reports on history of settlements in the researched territory based on these maps. Each map has its own elaborated commentary. This is a complex monograph of a great knowledge value. The author suggests some unfinished, eventually controversial theoretical problems which should be c1arified or thought over again to make sure this kind of works becomes a balanced description of a system of Wend personal names and both sides of the antroponomastic features.
