Summary/Abstract: The theory Catch-all party by Austrian political scientist O. Kirchheimer belongs to the classical and respectful theory of political parties these days. The author in this article tried on criteria of universality and owing to the developmnet and special characteristics of the Czech party system they can be named the parties of the Catch-all type. The part of the study is also comparison of the internal (the party organizational structure, the base of memberships, basis of the theory Catch-all party to study the development of political parties in the Czech Republic in the period of the forming of Czech party system after 1989 up to present. The result of this study is claim that there are only the two electorally strongest parties: ČSSD and ODS carried out both the internal and external the ideologically intensity) and external sources (the ability of communication with electorate and media, the election campaign, financial sources) of both parties.
