Summary/Abstract: This article represents a theoretical model, which contains the social and social-psychological patterns of corruption. It will serve as a basis of an already planned cross-cultural investigation (between Bulgaria and Colombia) whose objective is to discover and confirm the sociopsycholgical roots of corruption. The analyses of this phenomenon research the sources of corrupt behavior in the individuals, through the mechanism valid for the social interaction: the theory of social exchange, the perception of the individual about financial resources, the importance of the personal patterns as identity, personal status, subjective perception of well-being (satisfaction), predisposition "individual versus collective" and the important influence of culture through the way that this one determinate the personal values. All this factors explain how this problem is represented in the social life of all societies.
