Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the manner through which environmental factors (e.g. historical development, cultural beliefs and norms, socio-economic models, political governance systems, family composition, group dynamics) impact the individual stance on corruption. The effect of this mechanism can be interpreted on a theoretical level due to its tangible influence on shaping individual attitudes and convictions emerging in the process of interpersonal interaction. On an empirical level the thesis can be tested by establishing a correlation between the act of gift giving and the evoked reactions, sup- porting findings through a detailed interpretation of the identified links. This process intrinsically accounts for accepted behavioral norms, as dictated by the social environment and values system, and provides an accurate insight into the existence of a predisposition towards corrupt behavior or a lack thereof.
