Summary/Abstract: At the beginning in this study are elaborated the main objectives of Frang Bardhi to compile his dictionary, which also come out from the author’s preface. At first it is aimed at proving the value of the Albanian language, then possibility of Albanian speakers to learn Latin, and thirdly the dictionary would be of use to foreigner to know and to learn Albanian. Further the study is oriented to a connection (comparison) between Latin – Albanian Dictionary of Bardhi and Multi-language Vocabulary of Theodor Kavaliot. Both of the authors are given essential rebukes because of their defective (incomplete) selection of word entries and for translation of words from foreign languages. These rebukes are not of the same vali-dity. Reviews up to now about Bardhi’s work, having in mind its historical value have gone from serious remarks to an overwhelmingly appraisal. I think rightfully that it should be evaluated in its real dimensions. From inside, the author has achieved his objectives by being self-critical. From the outside, the comparison with his real follower in another linguistic and cultural century and milieu, like Kavaliot, does not bring to a weakened light. On the other hand, if we survey (look) it within our old authors, as it is presented today really with a joint inheritance for the language, and not separately, we could conclude that he not only did his job with profound love for his native language, but also that all of them, regardless those hard circumstances of the time, they had an implicit belief that the Albanian language is going to have a secure future for which is worthwhile to work.
