Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a set of 76 animal bone artifacts (bone, teeth, antlers and shells) found at the Bronze Age settlement from Năeni–Zănoaga Cetatea 2 (Early Monteoru culture). We analyzed the technologies used to produce the artifacts and their possible functions, more precisely how the necessary raw material was obtained, the processing technique and, in the end, how the items were modeled and finished. We followed the visible marks from the artifacts to determine the frequency and possible usage of certain types of items. The context of the finds was discussed in relation to the construction areas, in order to identify possible correlations between the animal species raised in the community around Cetatea 2 and the use of such animal bone tools in this type of economy. We also focused on the relationship between these artifacts and similar objects reported at other sites with Monteoru pottery.
