Summary/Abstract: Botswana received political independence in September 1966 and secured democratic development for its following entire existence. This continuous political development enables to analyze in detail origin and development of Botswana political parties, programs of their parties and political practices. Since 1965 nine relatively fair and free elections were held in the country and their results enabled to analyze origin and development of Botswana party system. The main aim of the paper is to analyze the origin and development of Botswana political parties in historical perspective and their contemporary positions. The paper is focusing predominantly the Botswana Democratic Party, the Botswana National Front and several smaller Botswana political parties. The formation and development of Botswana party system is analyzed on results of nine Botswana elections.
