Summary/Abstract: The work presents the most important research postulates constituting a linguistic (genological) description of a modern guidebook. The choice of the topic was influenced by a belief that this expansive, polymorphic, transgressive and cognitively-attractive form of expression constituting the Bachtin’s conception of the speech genres has an uncertain discourse status. The author of the article showed that oppositions, contrasts and diversifications organize the space of the whole “textual world”. They are also inscribed in the frames of the guidebook model, a genre field ascribed to it, but above all, reveal on the level of a new definition, genre varieties, their textual revision, as well as different academic characteristics.
