Summary/Abstract: An interest in demonology was already observable at the beginnings of Christianity. The theologians of that period characterise Evil as hierarchically organised: with Satan as the leader and with demons serving him. He is devoid of love and, being the opposite of good, hates man. Satan and other devils are malicious, terrible and shameless fallen angels, who as opponents of heaven, inhabit its western part. At the end of the times, they will be definatively defeated by God.
