JOHANN GEORG VON HAHN – FOUNDER OF MODERN ALBANOLOGY

Summary/Abstract: J. Hahn is regarded as a founder of Albanian studies in scientific sense and as a most versatile and insightful scholar of his time in the field of Albanian studies. J. Hahn’s work has opened a new era in Albanian studies and aroused scientific interest to a number of scholars that followed further his studies. Commemorating this great and versatile scholar on 200th anniversary of his birth we praise cordially and gratefully his founding work in Albanian studies. With this conference we express our deep gratitude for his magnificent work, which shed a light powerfully upon Albania and Albanians during a dark and bitter period. J. G. von Hahn’s work is one among cultural sources of Albanian National Revival, which raised Albania and Albanians in modern historical scene.
