Summary/Abstract: This review study aims to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on anxiety disorders. Studies published between 2018 and 2022 investigating the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy on anxiety disorders were evaluated. When the findings in the literature are examined, it is seen that cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in reducing anxiety symptoms in different anxiety disorders. It is stated that cognitive behavioral therapy helps individuals change dysfunctional thought patterns and contributes to the reduction of avoidance behaviors. Studies also indicate that internet based cognitive behavioral therapy applications may be as effective as face-to-face therapy applications. It is emphasized that internet-based applications provide a more accessible option, especially for individuals who have difficulty accessing mental health services. In addition, studies conducted with child and adolescent samples report that internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in reducing social anxiety symptoms. When the findings in the literature are evaluated together, cognitive behavioral therapy appears to be an applicable approach for different age groups and various anxiety disorders. It is also reported that the long-term effects of cognitive behavioral therapy continue after treatment. Research findings indicate that anxiety symptoms decrease after therapy and that this effect continues during follow-up periods. Furthermore, cognitive behavioral therapy is reported to have positive effects on individuals’functionality and to contribute to daily life skills. As a result, cognitive behavioral therapy is considered an effective and widely used psychotherapy approach in the treatment of anxiety disorders. In this regard, it is recommended that future studies focus particularly on the long-term effects of internet-based applications and their effects on different age groups.
