Summary/Abstract: This review study aims to examine the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the treatment of panic disorder. Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent panic attacks and persistent concern about experiencing additional attacks, significantly affecting individuals’ daily functioning and quality of life. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a psychotherapy approach that aims to help individuals accept distressing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations rather than struggling with them, while encouraging them to act in accordance with their personal values.Studies in the literature indicate that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy may contribute to the reduction of panic symptoms, decrease experiential avoidance, and enhance psychological flexibility. In particular, the processes of acceptance, cognitive defusion, present-moment awareness, and values-based action appear to be effective in reducing avoidance patterns that play a role in maintaining panic symptoms. In conclusion, the current literature suggests that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy may be an effective and applicable approach in the treatment of panic disorder. Future studies involving different samples and long-term follow-up assessments are recommended.
