Summary/Abstract: The following contribution describes and explains the main philosophy, purpose and mission as well as historical background, basic structure, key features and role played by the German central bank Bundesbank as an unique example for a notably independent holder of state’s economic and especially monetary policy, in its whole performance in both historical and current internal political and economic relations, with the key accent on a brief review and clarifying the main processes of creation of political and legal status of the Bundesbank in the face of the German federal government as well as in relation to general public perception of the Bundesbank's decision and policy making processes, with the special accent on its mission played in processes of creating the independence status of the European Central Bank.
