Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the research is the assessment of the relationship between the level of education and the level of unemployment among the young people (aged 15-29) in Lithuania between 2004 and 2024. The study focused on the assessment on how education influences employment and unemployment in this age group. In the research, the statistical methods were used such as measures of central tendency (min, max, average), the coefficient of variation, the asymmetry coefficient and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Data used in the study relates to the labour market in Lithuania from 2004 to 2024. The results of the research revealed higher unemployment among the young people compared to the general population, despite the fact that the young people are better educated. High unemployment among people with higher education indicated the mismatch between qualifications and the labour market requirements. Additionally, the decrease in the number of young people and the employment increase had an impact on the young people's migration. The results of the research indicated the need for changes in the educational system and the effective public policy implementation to support the young people in the labour market. What is more, the employment increase could significantly influence the demographic situation of the state, by the young people emigration decreasing and immigrants' attraction.
