Le avventure di Lucio, or the Adventures of Pucio in an Italian Version. The Synergy of Image and Text in Translation and the Development of Language Skills

Summary/Abstract: The popular series of books about the adventures of Pucio by Marta Galewska-Kustra has been so far translated into six languages. It has reached, among others, the Italian Peninsula. As in the original, the educational material simple in form and beautifully illustrated by Joanna Kłos is intended to foster child speech development also in the translation. But has the synergy of image and text been preserved? The present article is an attempt to answer this question by analysis centrefolds containing short texts and accompanying situational illustrations.
