Summary/Abstract: Jerzy Żuławski is the author of a forgotten shaped verse called cascade. In the volume of poems Intermezzo (1897), the poet included a cycle of nine poems of repetitive form entitled From „Cascades”. The author of the sketch discusses poetics of the cascade form and analyses it in the perspective of the tradition of visual poetry (technopaegnium). In 1897, Stéphane Mallarmé published his typographical poem A Throw of the Dice Will Never Abolish Chance. The time of publication of both works coincides with the breakthrough of the „modernism of writing”. The sketch shows the parallels of their forms and the novelty of typographic notation.
